Yes, if the charges are proved correct they should be punished. The Indian public, though they appear lethargic, are quick to punish when needed, by withdrawing support and refraining from voting them to power. The Indian public has done this in the past too, and have not voted personalities like Mrs. Indira Gandhi to power, due to her excesses during the emergency.
