Christians, can you explain this obvious Bible contradiction?

The problem comes in with the mainstream Christian belief in when a life begins according to the bible. Most Christians claim it begins at conception but an honest study of the entire bible tells a much different story. Either King David's illegitimate son was still a new born and not yet considered a viable person by God or else God is a liar.
