How can I help an addict through this addiction?

My boyfriend is the sweetest kindest soul I've ever met. He will do anything for me & loves my children. We have a great relationship. We can talk about anything & get along PERFECTLY! Really. I never knew it could be like this. But he is addicted to marijuana & percosets. He must smoke everyday. And he takes percosets more than a few times in a week. Unless there is no money. He has stolen from me once or twice. If he is not under the influence then he does not care about our relationship. He will leave & say its over & get his fix to call me crying about how he does not want to do this. I want to be here to help and support him. I just do not know how. My mother was addicted to crack & heroin my whole life. And I am not very sincere to addicts as they do nothing but hurt people. I understand that its a sickness, but I'm not an addict & I do not understand addiction. I need to learn how to help him and help him shake this. i do not think he is at the point where a rehab facility will be the answer. I think its less than that but definately requires attention & help. Its only getting worse. Someone please help me to understand, any resources andy suggestions will help. I'm at a loss of what to do. I am looking to get him a packet of information. but I'm not really quite sure where I can find some printable information to give to him? What do I do? I don't want to give up.
